They are at it again! There is no stopping the enthusiasm.

Members of Droitwich Spa Football Club, pictured left with Murray were mad enough to take on the Welsh 3000 Challenge in 24 Hr format. This was and is a greulling challenge for the fittest of individuals.

The team attempted the Welsh 3000s to help raise money for us. The Welsh 3000s requires the team to reach the peak of 15 mountains over 3000ft in Wales within the space of 24 hours. The approximate 26 mile walk is extremely tough and is often underestimated. It has been warned to be a big step up from “The Three Peaks Challenge” and you need to be very fit to walk it in 24 hours.

Having spent the night on to of Snowdon, the team completed the challenge in under 22 hours inspite of high winds and driving rain. A massive challege - Well done to all!!!

We are very grateful to members of Droitwich Spa Football Club for joining us in this partnership.
Thank you also to their trusty team of donors and supporters.

£ 1,600 Raised - Thank you

Steve Gwilliam spends hundreds of hours pounding the streets throughout the year, with one sole purpose - to run marathons and raise as much money as he can in support of improving the quality of the lives of Muscular Dystrophy sufferers.

This year, with a ballot place, Steve was able to run for Murray's Muscles with a very respectable time of 4Hrs 33mins.

£ 500 of the money Steve has raised will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign to bolster funding into research.

Bev's Cuba Cycle Challenge

Friday 4th November 2011
to
Tuesday 8th November 2011

£ 2,300 Raised - Thank you

Beverley Hill, God Mother (or Spare Parent as we call her) to Murray took on the challenge of cycling round Cuba.

The total distance to cover was 350 KM in 5 days and believe it or not there are quite a lot of hills in Cuba, so it was a gruelling challenge. I know times are hard but think about those with Muscular Dystrophy, there is no cure at present, no hope for a future. The team I was with were great and we had a fantastic time. Thank you to all my supporters for all your help in raising so much money. Well done!

Sunday 11th September 2011

£ 2,450 Raised - Thank you

A fantastic but very windy day. Only one brief shower (our 1st in 6 years of the tournament).

This year the trophy has come back to Droitwich with the winning team Droitwich Lions. There was one point between each of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places - a very close tournament with some great play.

The Murray's Muscles 2010 Golfing Tournament

Sunday 26th September 2010
Gaudet Luce Golf Club

£ 2,300 Raised - Thank you

A fantastic event enjoyed by all, and yes, although cooler, the sun shined on us again.

This year, unfortunately for them, Dream Team failed to maintain their hold on the distingushed Murray's Muscles Golfing Tournament Trophy and had to conceed to the new winning team Four Play, captained by Darek Sikorski.

As well as our Cough assist project, this year we are raising money towards a new project "NMC west Mids Appeal". This Appeal has been set up to fund an exciting initiative to bring a Neuromuscular Centre (NMC) to the West Midlands. The new centre will be modelled on the Neuromuscular Centre in Winsford, Cheshire, and provide much-needed ongoing specialist physical therapies (including Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Acupuncture, Theraputic Soft Tissue Massage), training and employment to adults living with a neuromuscular condition.

£ 1,750 Raised - Thank you

Our thanks to Members of Droitwich Spa Football Club, pictured left with Murray (back left to front right): Les Bowen, Chris Everett, Roger Denby, Tom Sanders, Chris Hickey, Neil McCullough, Ben Pheasant, and Nick West who joined forces to take on the great 3 Peaks Challenge in the true 24 Hr format.

The money raised will go towards buying a Cough assist Machine. This is a piece of equipment that does just that. Some people with muscle disease do not have the strength to cough, a vital function required to clear ones throat – or in more basic terms, stops you drowning in your own juices.

We wish to stress that the use of this money to buy a Cough Assist Machine is not to set a precedent but is that of a challenge to the West Midlands NHS to step up to the mark and help itself to save money by providing necessary equipment. In doing so, they will reduce the need for emergency admissions of respiratory cases to hospital. Earlier this year figures released in the NHS Neuro-muscular Strategy report showed that up to a quarter of the £6.6 Million spent by the West Midlands NHS on hospital admissions last year for muscle disease patients alone could have been saved by early intervention.

We are very grateful to Droitwich Spa Football Club for joining us in this partnership.
Thank you also to their trusty team of donors and supporters.
